SHE'S THE SYMBOL OF RESISTANCE and she's holding on my heart like a hand grenade Her walk was dominant. She strutted through the grass as if she owned it. Her brown eyes were fixed ahead of her, at a large tree that was growing from the ground in the most beautiful way possible. This was the place that she always went to when she was angry, or upset, or tired, or just wanted a place to go. Her eyes narrowed a bit as she saw a child run past her tree, she didn't want anyone going near her tree. It was hers.
No, she didn't own it, or whatever. But her name-and her ex boyfriend's-name were carved on the back. She smirked, it was her hiding spot. Even at night, when she was in her shifted form this was where she went. She found it to be the safest, most secure place in the universe.
Scarlett whipped her long dark colored hair over her shoulder. She smiled at walked finished her strut towards the tree. She dropped her purse, and leaned against the brown wood. Her eyes glazed over and she slowly sunk to the grassy ground. Scarlett's head fell back against the tree trunk and a breath of relaxation escaped her mouth. Her eyes fluttered close, this was so nice. A bird was singing in the branches above her head, the sky was blue and some children in the park were playing on the swings loudly. It made Scarlett so happy.
Scarlett sat upright and crossed her legs. Slowly she reached for her purse and placed it on her lap. Scarlett pushed her sunglasses up on top of her head which pushed her long hair out of her face. Scarlett unzipped her purse and began to rummage around in it. Scarlett was looking for her cell phone so she could text someone to come and join her.
After a moment, she found her phone after a bit. Almost immediately she began texting. She sent about five texts and then felt as though, texting was pointless. She didn't need to text people, she rolled her eyes. Scarlett sighed, personally she liked the silence, but she did want some sort of company. She put her phone back in her purse and waited. Maybe someone would text her back and she wouldn't feel so lonely. but she didn't really care anymore. Her personality changed so quickly. She smirked, and rested her head against the tree again.

A pair of dark, green eyes gave away nothing but sincere amusement as he strode through the park. The simple-mindedness of the humans was astounding . . . they were so unaware, the small fact of that merely gave him a reason to laugh. He tended to avoid any directness with them, though still, sometimes temptation got the better of him.
As it did now. Jay had deliberately come here in search of amusement; in some way shape or form, so long as it was related to the normal humans. Escaping his responsibilities -- again, as always. But, then again, he actually had to be careful of how far the jokes went; every now and then he was surprised by a claim of recognition -- no doubt thanks to his economic success. It wasn't even success. It was inheritance. Still, being rich did have it's pluses.
However -- it also had it's cons. The pathetic hold it had on him sometimes prevented him from escaping into his shifted form. Managing it all was . . . well, not something he enjoyed.
Shaking his head, Jay paused, adjusting the small backpack slung across his right shoulder. It was really of little consequence. In case he decided to spend the night away from home, again. Nearly smirking to himself, he seriously considered it -- he really didn't need anything; in his wolf form he could hunt and sleep out there without a problem. It was getting away from the city -- that was the problem. Those who believed they had a say in his life, particularly: his own brother -- believed it was ridiculous, those little unplanned trips of his.
With that thought, his jaw set in annoyance -- but, again, determined to enjoy himself, he quickly spotted a young woman strolling across the parkway. Well, strolling wasn't exactly the right word for it. The girl walked with a purpose. Jay's own legs subtly changed their direction, carrying him closer -- before he slowed to a halt, leaning against a tree; not far from her. His deep, green eyes were gleaming with their usual good-humored mischievousness -- as he glanced casually towards the city, tossing his pack to the ground.
Making conversation was the hard part. He wasn't very fond of strangers, but, then again -- some entertainment was worth it. His charming grin was again recognizable as he studied some passing bicyclers, smiling to himself for a moment, before it faded -- his gaze instead flicking towards the girl beneath the tree.

SHE'S THE SYMBOL OF RESISTANCE and she's holding on my heart like a hand grenade She was focused on her cell phone. It vibrated once and a text came in. Great. Her friends were busy. She rolled her eyes and shoved the machine back in her purse. She sighed and pulled out her lipstick and a compact mirror.
Although Scarlett was far from being human, she fit in perfectly. She had their clothes, their looks and their everything down to a science. She was a perfect human. She looked like one, and acted like one completely, and the majority of her friends were humans. The only thing that different about her from all the other humans was her smell, of course no human would be able to tell. Just the other shifters. She smiled to herself about the little fact.
Scarlett flicked open her compact, and her lips pouted so she could see where she needed to apply more makeup. First her finger went to the corner of her eye so she could fix a bit of smudged eyeliner. She smirked, and took the lip off of her lipstick. Slowly she applied the gloss against her lips. Her mirror moved slightly, and in the reflection she saw a man staring at her.
Scarlett puckered her lips, closed her compact and lipstick and dropped the makeup back into the purse. She turned around and tilted her head staring back at the man that was staring at her. He was attractive. She licked her bottom lip, and her expression went from curious to angry in a matter of seconds.
"Can I help you or something?" She asked sarcastically. Scarlett hated strangers, she didn't like conversing and she didn't like being looked at. And this man was making her do everything she hated. She scowled and rolled her eyes. Her dark hair was tossed over her shoulder and she turned back to her purse where she began looking through it so that she had something to do, rather than talk to him.

Jay was half-tempted to smile. He could see he'd gotten under her skin, though he hadn't planned it so himself; he had a rugged sense of humor, and a dryness that often left others guessing. So, at her reply, he couldn't resist a grin as he glanced towards the trees, dark eyes dancing vividly with amusement.
"I doubt it," he answered, stifling a laugh as he glanced back towards her, running a hand through his dark hair, equally dark eyes gleaming with slight thought as the amusement faded -- but the grin remained. There was nothing dangerous about him -- but, ironically enough, he could shift within a moments notice. Into a large, dark-hued wolf, complete with fangs. It was a curse, as well as a delight to him. But where one point ended, and the other began, he knew not.
He'd crossed his arms over his chest and took a moment to study the distant tops of the buildings of the city, smile even fading as he considered his options -- leaving, staying, shifting -- or not. Half of him wondered, if he shifted into one form, for long enough, would it be permanent? A strange thought, but curiosity called and he was not one to ignore it. But, Jay wasn't foolish enough to risk his ability of swapping forms; no, the freedom of it he'd already taken too much for granted . . . and without it, he'd feel trapped, and strange.
Suddenly, his attention flicked back to her -- wanting a distraction again, from the options and thoughts . . . the burdens. "But then again . . . now that I think of it -- you could tell me why you're looking at me like that. For God's sake, you'd think I'd pulled a knife on you," he chuckled, a teasing glint in his eye. He felt something in simmiliarity with this stranger which picked at an interest to get to know her better. Normally, he hated strangers -- but today, or maybe it was her, he felt different. A new twinge of curiosity was unleashing itself upon him.

SHE'S THE SYMBOL OF RESISTANCE and she's holding on my heart like a hand grenade Scarlett sighed loudly and rudely. She didn’t want to be bothered by people today. She just wanted to observe the people, not actually have to talk to them. She growled under her breath, not loud enough for anyone to hear of course, except growling for her let the tension out and it helped her to feel better and know she was safe. For she always felt so vulnerable when she was in her human form.
If she couldn’t help him, why wasn’t he leaving? She growled again and looked back at him, with narrowed eyes. Of course though, he had to notice how she was looking at him, how the tension was simply building. She looked away and cursed him under her breath, but after a few calming breaths, Scarlett was able to look at him without trying to kill him.
"Sorry, I’m just in a bad mood." She said with a small smile but then she looked back at the park and all the children and dogs and families and what not, and part of her wished she had something as nice and happy as that. But all she really had was the longing for it.
"I’m Scarlett…and you are?" She asked curiously looking back at him with a simple smile. She didn’t really want to be near this guy any longer, but manners insisted that as long as she was there, she would behave and act appropriately. She smiled a bit, and then looked back at the park. As much as she loved coming to the park, she hated it, because well it made her extremely sad.
