It amazed her that Jeremy actually listened to what she said. He didn't stare at her cleavage, and he could have, but paid attention. He didn't say anything beyond his nods but he was still listening, she knew it. It seemed like a rare quality to find in men, even Annaika knew that and she'd started ignoring them as much as possible. Sure, they all had their soft stages but that usually went away the older they went.
When he reached his hand out to her she froze, immediately tensing up. She wasn't one for physical contact but...Annaika forced herself and the mountain lion to relax before she grasp his hand and smiled softly. Thanks, Jeremy. I didn't mean to unload everything on you. Annaika shrugged, her smile turning a bit sheepish, but she didn't let go of his hand. She didn't want to let his hand go, but she held it loose enough that he could pull away.
“Don’t worry Annaika, I will never ever give you a reason to kill me.” She laughed and squeezed his hand quickly before letting go, not because she wanted to but because she didn't think he'd appreciate it if she clutched to it the entire time. It'll take a lot to make me actually kill you. Just don't do what he did. He didn't know what her ex-boyfriend had done and she wasn't going to tell him until he asked.
She wasn't ashamed of killing her ex-boyfriend, but she was scared of how Jeremy would judge her. He was probably just sticking around for now to be polite but he'd be gone too. And no matter what she said she could never make him understand her reasons. She'd tell him how her boyfriend of the time had become severe in his idea of sexual pleasures, and how she was sure he would have killed her that one time if she hadn't done anything and Jeremy would probably suggest that she could have just hurt him instead of killing him. But Jeremy didn't know that ex-boyfriend. It wasn't just his idea of pleasure that was severe--it was everything. It was what she had liked about him until it had become too much. If she'd hurt him the only way to ever get away from him would be to become a permanent mountain lion. Otherwise he would have killed her afterward.

MOVE YOUR BODY WHEN THE SUNLIGHT DIES EVERYBODYHIDEYOURBODY[ F R O M T H E S C A R E C R O W; E V E R Y B O D Y H I D E ] Jeremy smiled at Annaika. He didn’t mind listening to her, she was interesting. Sure sometimes he didn’t like to listen to women, but that was when they ranted on and on about stupid things. But this, what Annaika was saying, was not stupid nor was it boring to listen to. It was interesting and all Jeremy wanted her to do, was keep talking.
He didn’t want the story to end. It was just so…fascinating. Jeremy had never ever heard the true stories of what it was like to be a Shifter, he had never heard anything real before. And this was just the best information he could take in.
Jeremy smiled widely as she placed her hand in his, though he knew she wasn’t holding on tightly. He still thought that this was an amazing feeling. Jeremy hadn’t had a girlfriend for a while, because he had been very busy with work, and Jeremy was a person that liked the physical contact and that was one thing he had been missing. So this gesture made him feel all warm and fuzzy, though he didn’t let it show in his face.
Jeremy shook his head and looked at her very seriously, “It’s fine Annaika. I like listening to things. And I think Shifters are so fascinating…hearing the actual truth just…it blows my mind.” He shrugged and smiled, “Though I’m not a creep, so don’t think I’ll stalk you or whatever.” He winked at her in a joking way.
This was amazing. He had met this girl only maybe an hour ago, and yet he had pried out so much from her. He had learned so much, and he had gained so much. He never wanted this day to end. Jeremy smiled happily, this was so cool. He had tons of friends and he knew tons of girls, but still, he had never met anyone and clicked with anyone on this level before. But then she let go of his hand, and a sadness filled him.
“Trust me…I won’t do what he said.” Jeremy said seriously and nodded at her, he wanted to make sure she understood he would never ever do anything to hurt her. But then his face changed to a look of confusion. “Well I don’t know what he did…so saying that is kind of invalid…may I ask what he did, so I know never to do it?” His eyebrows raised and then he added quickly, “You can say no..”

Annaika nodded, sighing as she did so, and clasped her hands together. No, I'll tell you. But she didn't, not right away at least. You know, they say that when you kill someone it haunts you the rest of your life. I mean, yeah, I think about it, but I don't regret it. Annaika spoke softly, to keeping anyone from overhearing. She opened one hand and studied the palm. Looks were deceiving, they always were. No one could tell from her soft hands that they could turn into furry paws, or that her nails, painted a pale shade of blue, could turn into claws that could rip through skin easier then anything.
It was after I told him...what I was. We'd been dating for a while and he'd always been kinda extreme. Everything he did he concentrated on and made it interesting. It was why I liked him at first. After he found out he must have figured that me being a Shifter automatically made me indestructible or something. You don't need the details but he took that to... Annaika blushed, which she rarely did. To bed, you could say, though we were outside at the time. Annaika remained looking firmly away from Jeremy, the blush still burning furiously on her face. He hurt me and I don't doubt he would have killed me, either before or after I got away. So I beat him to it. She flexed her wrists, revealing two white lines on her skin, one on each wrist, positioned on the vein and so pale they were invisible when she wasn't stretching the skin. He'd also cut her neck but she wasn't sure if that scar still existed.
Annaika bit her lip, wondering, not for the first time, why she was telling Jeremy all of this. Perhaps it was just nice to finally tell someone the details of her life. She'd told the forest but though the forest was an excellent listener she never had much to say.
Annaika looked up then, her green eyes darkened so that they burned with curiosity, intense and the eyes of a mountain lion except that she wouldn't allow them to go as far as slitting at the pupil.

MOVE YOUR BODY WHEN THE SUNLIGHT DIES EVERYBODYHIDEYOURBODY[ F R O M T H E S C A R E C R O W; E V E R Y B O D Y H I D E ] She wasn’t guilty in killing that man? Well, that was fine. He wasn’t here to judge. Jeremy listened his eyes widening slightly at the few things that startled him. The man she killed must have been a lunatic. But he wasn’t going to say anything, because it was possible that Annaika had loved him up until the point that he had really lost his marbles.
What do I say? Do I try to comfort her? Do I try to tell her I’m sorry? Or do I just sit here awkwardly? He thought nervously, but he kept his face neutral and his eyes understanding. Jeremy was not good at these situations. He was good at listening, and good at giving advice to certain things. But this whole idea of…listening and then relating feelings, was a trickier subject.
Jeremy smiled slightly to himself as he saw her blush and look away from him, but his smile was gone very quickly. He could tell in her face how hard this was for her to say, so he didn’t want her to think he was amused. Which he was not, he was far from amused with this information
So he nodded along with her, and took in every word. But then it was his turn to speak again, and no words came to his mind. First, he was in shock that someone would try to harm and take advantage of a person as beautiful and special as Annaika. But it had happened, and that was what made this situation awkward for him.
He had to think of something kind and gentle to say, but that was the hard part. He could listen and take it all in and not be a jerk, but then he had to respond. He searched his mind for something to compare her life to, or something stressful he had ever gone through. But no, nothing came to mind. He sighed and shook his head.
“I can’t compare my life to yours. I have no advice to give you. But there is something.” Jeremy sighed slightly, and his eyes looked away from hers and he studied the table. “Three things you should know about me: number one, I don’t lie. Number two, I don’t hurt women, and” his voice dropped and he looked around the room slightly to make sure he didn’t know anyone, and he leaned into the table to just whisper to Annaika. “number three, I’m not a risk taker in bed.” He smiled at her. “So I can’t hurt you, or ever, ever do what he did to you.” He found his eyes staring at her scarred wrists, but he looked away quickly.

Annaika's eyes widened, almost comically so, before she grinned. I don't want your advice, Jeremy, that's not why I told you but...thank you. She said the words laughing, but not at Jeremy. I had no idea something as simple as what you just said could make me feel better. But I, too, have something to tell you. Annaika licked her lips and leaned forward as far as she could without actually laying on the table. She glanced around and then, still with her smile, looked back at Jeremy.
Sometimes it's good to take some risks in bed. You never know, I might show you someday. Annaika allowed her grin to widen a bit before letting it slowly fade away. And just a bit faster then her fading smile, she leaned back and looked towards the counter where the unending line of people ordered there coffee. She wasn't blushing much anymore, just the light pink stain on her cheeks, but she wasn't embarrassed by what she'd just said. More like amused, judging by the little smile still upon her lips.
Annaika didn't remember the last time she'd felt like this around a man. Not even around her ex-boyfriend had they been like this. That guy barely known the basics let alone her history. Jeremy knew that now and Annaika didn't regret telling him. His presence was making her happy and teasing, the latter a very nearly foreign emotions for her. This was someone that she had pretty much bared her heart to and he was still there. He wasn't running and he wasn't cowering. She'd told him all her secrets. Well, he didn't know much about her shifting, or her animal, or anything like that, but she didn't care.

MOVE YOUR BODY WHEN THE SUNLIGHT DIES EVERYBODYHIDEYOURBODY[ F R O M T H E S C A R E C R O W; E V E R Y B O D Y H I D E ] Jeremy smirked as she began to laugh, he was glad he had cheered her up. That’s one of the things he did best, no matter what the situation was, he was always able to turn a dark situation into a funny and delightful situation. It was one of his many gifts, so really this situation was awkward, but now it was okay.
When she leaned forward, Jeremy stared into her eyes very intensely. He met her gaze and he liked how close they were. They were still far away, but they were close enough that Jeremy wanted to smile. And so he did smile, but he smiled a seductive and charming smile. It was great. He felt like he could really open up to Annaika. It was a wonderful feeling.
Jeremy winked at Annaika and reached for her hand, and he brought it across the table and just held it with both his hands. Again, the feeling of being close to someone was wonderful and it made Jeremy smile and hold her hand tightly.
“Are you inviting me to something?” He asked kissing her knuckles lightly. His blue eyes dropped and he studied her fingers as he kissed her, his lips lingered on her hand. But then when he looked up he smiled at her and just stared at her beautiful eyes. “Or are you challenging me to something?” His eyes raised slightly, and then he kissed the base of her wrist, but this kiss lasted the longest it could. And he kissed her wrist in a circle, covering all of it.

She expected to flinch away from the strangely intimate touch, both herself and her mountain lion, but she didn't. In fact, the little betrayer was practically purring at Jeremy's touch! If she hadn't been in control of herself she would be purring too, and that would just be awkward.
But she couldn't help but love his touch. His breath was warm against her skin, as were his lips. She couldn't even help from a slight shiver. Was she challenging or inviting? She didn't really know but she could figure out real quick. Hmm...Maybe both? Well, I think at first it was an invitation but now I'm intrigued over what's on your mind. Care to share?
She couldn't really do much because of the way he was holding her hand--his lips were on her wrist now--but she could bend her fingers a bit to brush their tips over his skin. It wasn't just his ideas that intrigued her, it was everything about him. How he could touch her like this without her recoiling. Touching a mundane human was horrifying to her but...now she couldn't imagine being horrified as delicious shivers went up her arm.
And then her mountain lion, which was always harder to please then Annaika. If she was shifted the mountain lion would be purring, rubbing up against Jeremy and marking him with her scent. Not a scent-marking to say that he was her property but to warn others away from him. Hmm...so maybe it was a sort of property...More like he was someone she found on her territory, so he was now hers, except a mountain lion wouldn't claim something that strayed onto her territory. She would drive it off. Annaika didn't want to do that.

MOVE YOUR BODY WHEN THE SUNLIGHT DIES EVERYBODYHIDEYOURBODY[ F R O M T H E S C A R E C R O W; E V E R Y B O D Y H I D E ] Jeremy smirked at Annaika, this girl was very strange and this conversation had gotten very very … weird. But Jeremy liked it. He didn’t want it to ever ever end. So he held tightly onto Annaika’s hand, as if letting go would mean the world would end. His blue eyes locked onto hers, and he didn’t let himself get distracted by anything in the store, he just stared at Annaika and took in all her beauty.
What was he thinking of doing? Well he held onto her hand, and kissed it a few times more. He kissed the tips of every finger, and the knuckles and her palm and down her wrist leading to her arm, until he couldn’t pull it any closer to himself without ripping her arm out of its socket. And then he knew what he wanted, he knew what he was thinking of. He knew what was on his mind and it was so incredible.
But he wasn’t sure that tell her was…the best idea. It was very sexual, and he wasn’t sure if Annaika was there. Sure, she had been the one to bring the whole thing up, but did she mean now, or what was the idea? “Well…I think you know what I am thinking of.” He said with a little wink. He kissed her wrist and her fingers.
And being the tease that he was, he dropped her hand on the table, lightly. And he leaned back in his chair, he gave her a very big smile and a wink. He was very turned on, and if he did anything more he would go too far, and that worried him. “Sorry sweetheart, but anymore of this, and I’ll be taking you outside and um…or…staying right here.” He winked again and leaned back in the chair. And then was suddenly very conscious he still didn’t have a shirt on.

Annaika pretended to think about his words, even though she was really warring with herself. Internally, of course. Her face was a perfect light, playful mask. How had this time with Jeremy started with her thinking of Jeremy as a terribly boring, static human, as all humans were, and then come to this? She didn't mind this conversation, though, she liked it in fact. It was fun and mischievous, and it was with a human. A human that was still static but not boring as she'd expected.
Annaika tapped the fingers of the hand that Jeremy had released on the table. Her hand was warm and she imagined she could still feel Jeremy touching it. Hmm...Outside or on the table? Neither are terribly romantic, don't you agree? Or comfortable sounding, though I think I could do without comfortable... Annaika's smile widened, her gaze wondering down Jeremy's exposed chest. Why wasn't he wearing a shirt anyways? Of course, Annaika wasn't one into modesty. At all. Just the opposite, really. It would suit her just fine to wear next to no clothes at all, not because she was skanky or anything but because it was convenient and any sense of modesty had disappeared long ago.
But I think I could come up with a few places that were more comfortable. Say, your place or my apartment. Annaika raised her eyebrows at Jeremy questioningly. Or a party going on at a...friends house, later tonight. The possibilities are endless there. Dylan wasn't her friend, at all. Dylan was a human shifter, something that Annaika despised more then nearly anything. And not only was she a human shifter but also a slut, another thing Annaika hated. She wouldn't mind going to that party just for the hell of it, as long as she wasn't alone.

MOVE YOUR BODY WHEN THE SUNLIGHT DIES EVERYBODYHIDEYOURBODY[ F R O M T H E S C A R E C R O W; E V E R Y B O D Y H I D E ] Jeremy ran a hand through his hair and stared at her as she suggested all these places they could go. He smiled at her, wow Annaika was some woman. He couldn’t believe how…forward she was being. Part of him wanted to go over to her friend’s house for that party, but also didn’t think that would appropriate. So he didn’t suggest it. He just smiled, at her. This was just an amazing day. He had started playing basketball with his brothers, and ended up nearly having sex with a very hot and amazing girl.
“I’m thinking one of our houses would be the smartest idea.” His hand gripped the side of the table, his knuckles turning white from how hard he was clinging. He wanted to just get up and go now. He just wanted to touch her and hug her and kiss her. Even though he still know much about her, he still wanted to be around her.
Jeremy coughed and he stared at her hand, wanting to pick it back up and kiss it again, partly because he skin was so soft and partly because he just wanted to be near her. “When do you want to go?” He asked raising an eye brow and winking at her, “Now?”

Annaika grinned mischievously, caught up in the moment, and her green eyes flicked around. Come on, she said, her voice nearly a purr, and grabbed her coffee cup and Jeremy's hand at nearly the same time. Part of her asked what the hell she was doing, but the other part, mostly herself but also her mountain lion, didn't care.
So she wasn't the kind of girl who met up with someone and then hooked up, so what? She's made some new friends lately who'd made her determined to lighten up a bit, to be less...reclusive. She was doing this once, not with the entire football team. It didn't change much. And besides, any diseases he had, if any, probably wouldn't harm her. There were benefits to being a Shifter, the enhanced immune system one of them. Few human diseases could survive in her naturally-hotter body, and would be killed within minutes. By some evolution of nature human sperm could survive in Shifters, by some kind of protection inside her body, but that didn't make pregnancy easy. And that was probably only the way it was to stop Shifters from extinction.
And besides, they'd use protection.
Annaika glanced back at Jeremy, her eyes alight and playful. Jeremy had brought out a new side of her mountain lion, one that was relaxed and fierce at the same time. Who's place is closer you think, mine or yours? Mine is several blocks away. She spoke as she tossed her empty cup of coffee in the garbage.

MOVE YOUR BODY WHEN THE SUNLIGHT DIES EVERYBODYHIDEYOURBODY[ F R O M T H E S C A R E C R O W; E V E R Y B O D Y H I D E ] Jeremy’s smile widened immensely as she grabbed his hand and pulled him to his feet. He grabbed his coffee and the bag of the dark roast coffee tin for his parents, which he would have to give to them on a later date. He didn’t really care about his parents coffee right now, Annaika was really the only thing that was on his mind. Annaika and where they were going to go.
Right when Annaika threw her coffee cup out, he tossed his cup into the garbage and continued to keep walking. He could care less that there was still some coffee in the bottom of it, he just wanted to focus all his attention on Annaika and what was going to happen, he didn’t care about the coffee anymore. He pushed open the door and let Annaika walk through it first, then he followed.
His house was down in Queens so his house was a forty minute drive from here. So hers was a lot closer, “Yours. Mine is a bit of a drive from here.” He said shrugging, then he smiled still holding her hand. “I’ll drive.” He said pulling his keys from his pocket and clicking the locks on his car. No his car was nothing special to look at, but still, it had wheels and could get them to where they needed to go. “You’ll give me directions?” He said smiling happily at her.
Sure, Jeremy was a person who didn’t like random hook ups. No, he didn’t like having sex with women for no reasons. It was one of the things that he just hated in people. But there was something about Annaika that made him want to change his own ways. There was something about their automatic connection and their chemistry that made him so pleased.
He walked around his car to the passenger’s side, and he opened the door for Annaika. He would stand there like a gentleman and hold the door open for her, and then when she was settled inside he would close the door. “Ladies first.” He said smiling at her.
He was so excited. Literally, he was bursting. But Jeremy was also very concerned that he wouldn’t be able to keep his hands off of Annaika in the car ride to her house.

Annaika returned Jeremy's smile despite how she was feeling. She wanted this, yes, she did, but still, it didn't settle right with her. She didn't like people like this. She wasn't like this! But Jeremy was special, Annaika knew that. He was a unique sort of human. He'd known about Shifters beforehand and he didn't judge her. Perhaps he was just proving that humans were stupid, for not fearing her after what she'd done. Right now she was glad that humans were stupid though.
Of course. It's not far but there are lots of turns. Annaika didn't have to worry about her own car. It was safe and parked at her parents house. Annaika enjoyed walking most places, if she could, and that included from her parents house to her house and then Starbucks. Walking was better and it made the mountain lion content, despite the crowds.
Thank you, good sir, Annaika said mockingly with a little curtsy and stepped into the car through the door he had opened for her.
