Dylan walked along the old street with her hands in the pockets of her gray jacket. she smiled as she looked up at the sky. Today probably couldn't have gotten much better. She was having a great day. She was going to see Jonathan later and couldn't wait, but until then she decided to spend her day outside walking, for whatever reason, she wasn't sure. She played with her hair as she walked before stretching her arms. Her fingers wrapped around her wrist as she walked, eyes following the ground. Dylan had walked this far before in the forest, but seeing as jonathan wasn't going to be out to rescue her if she got lost, she didn't find it to be worth it.Her eyes danced as she pulled out her cell phone and smiled at the background, a picture of Kelly. On her finger was a gold ring with a diamond in it. It had silver leaves the closer you got to it and she was obsessed with playing with it whenever she was alone. This was one of those times.

She was looking at it quietly, running her fingers along the tree as she laid her head back against the tree. She was thinking and preferred not to be disturbed and that was why she was here. The farther away she got from the house the better she could think. The farther from the city the easier it was for her to sit down and think about the things that she never seemed to have time for. Her eyes were focused on something that was a few feet away, a small creature playing in the grass. It was a rabbit and it had yet to notice her, but Dylan had noticed it. She hadn't moved and didn't smile like most people did when they saw something that innocent. She had become completely rigid because she never knew who was a shifter and who wasn't and she hated animals as well as shifters because of it. After being attacked by her ex when he was a shifter she couldn't help but hate them with an extreme passion. Dylan's eyes narrowed as she glared at the rabbit, finding an overwhelming urge to kick it but knowing that if she did she would most likely get attacked, shifter or not. With a frustrated sigh she moved away from it, her thoughts turning back to the happy previous thoughts but the back of her mind still seemed to be humming because of the rabbit. Kiera was in human form, though she hadn't planned on being human for very long. The trees and the sweet scent of pine needles were calling to her. It was a call she was more than willing to answer. In fact, she needed to answer, craved the release of giving in. She smiled dreamily, though the smile turned into a grimace of pain as she doubled over clutching at her stomach. A slightly surprised breath of pain escaped Kiera's parted lips and she winced. The blazing pain in her stomach slowly ebbed away and she straightened shakily. She gritted her teeth, pushing away the tears in the corners of her eyes. She needed to shift soon. She rarely let it get this bad. "Idiot!" She wasn't sure whether she was cursing herself or Jay. She had met him in the woods the week before. He was another wolf shifter, like herself, and had scared the crap out of her when he suddenly shifted. She had spent her Saturday - the day she always dedicated to shifting - talking with him instead. It wasn't good. She needed those Saturdays. She wasn't in denial. She knew she had a problem. However, she also know no one could cure her. She couldn't go to a psychiatrist or a rehabilitation center. They would ask her what substance she was addicted to or what her problem was. She couldn't exactly say "Oh I'm an animal shifter and I have an addiction to my shifter form." She would either be killed, imprisoned or put in an asylum. No, no one could help Kiera. She just had to live. She took a deep breath, moving with renewed determination towards the tree. Usually she drove to the woods, but she was out of gas and she knew taking the time and money to go to a gas station would mean she wouldn't make it. She shivered, remembering the first and last time she hadn't made it. She had writhed and screamed on the ground until shifting against her will in the middle of her apartment she shared with three other girls. Only one of her roomates had been there at the time, luckily she was a shifter too. Her roomate had smuggled a fully grown wolf into the car and to the woods where she then covered for Kiera until Kiera could return. Jessica had kept Kiera's secret ever since, covering for her weekly dissapearances. Kiera gritted her teeth, but stopped with shock as she spotted someone leaning against a tree. She peered at the girl, recognizing Dylan Mazani. What is the Queen of the University doing hanging around an old burned down church? Kiera bit her lip, debating whethe she had the few minutes to afford speaking to Dylan. Kiera took a deep breath, mentally calculating just how much time she had before she would snap. About an hour give or take. It would get painful though. Kiera could afford ten minutes though, and then vanish on a "hiking expedition". Kiera walked towards the other girl, noticing Dylan's eyes glued to a rabbit with something similar to fear in her eyes. "Dylan! Hey! Is there something wrong with that bunny or something?"tagged. She wasn't a fan of Kiera but she wouldn't be a bitch to someone she hardly knew. She shrugged her shoulders when she heard the question and shook her head. No, there isn't anything wrong with it. I just don't like rabbits. She answered quickly, seeing as that was the only thing she could say without looking like she was crazy. She sighed and laid her head back against the tree and thought quietly, drumming her hand against her thigh to a hidden beat. What's up with you? You kind of looked like you were in pain back there. She asked as she pointed back to the place she had been standing. She had seen it and it bugged her not knowing but at the same time she more than knew that she shouldn't push unless she knew the girl better. About all she knew was that Kiera was Kiera and that was it. She wasn't going to push to know because she really didn't care. But that was Dylan for you. She only cared about those who needed it and lied to those who didn't. She had a horrible temper when she wanted to and at other times she could be the sweetest person you meet.

The rabbit had almost completely disappeared from sight now, the creature simply moving closer to it's burrow and sticking it's head in, and that was god enough for Dylan. She leaned back and looked at her slowly, carefully, and brushed her hair away from her face. She was in a wonderful mood and couldn't help but smile. The funny thing was, Dylan, who usually wouldn't be see around anyone lower than her status, was smiling at everyone and it shocked many people. Her mother had noticed it first right before she left and had actually asked if something was wrong. She would simply laugh before shrugging her shoulders. She couldn't help but smile and hug her before disappearing out the front door. Dylan was almost always in a bad mood, wanting nothing to do with her parents, so when she hugged her mom and dad she really was in a wonderful mood. Most people would have been worried for her, but she wasn't. She didn't care if someone worried about her because she could handle herself and she was stronger than most other people. Kiera smiled kindly at Dylan. Kiera didn't like Dylan, but she didn't dislike her. She knew Dylan could be a major bitch, but so far Dylan hadn't singled Kiera out. Technically, Kiera had no reason to dislike the other girl. She stuck her hands casually in her pockets, leaning against a neighboring tree. She shifted her feet, feeling a low throbbing that was the warning to another gripping pain. She didn't let it show. Instead she met Dylan's gaze, shrugging her shoulders. "Whatever, you don't like rabbits. It's all good by me. Personally, I hate leeches." She shivered genuinely, quickly changing the topic as an image of leeches clinging to her skin and sucking her blood rose in her mind. She hated leeches with a passion, they terrified her. She concentrated on Dylan's question. She couldn't skip it without looking suspicious and she couldnt just say "Oh I'm suffering from withdrawl". Nah, she would go with her customary excuse when someone caught her in her withdrawl phase. She grinned self conciously, bringing a fale blush to her cheeks. She glanced at her feet then back up at Dylan. "Cramps you know? The woman's monthly curse. I usually go hiking because I read once that excercise makes it better." She shrugged, glancing at Dylan's hand. She picked out a sparkling diamond ring and her eyebrow raised with curiosity. She smiled at the other girl. Was it a wedding ring? An engagement ring? Who was the guy? "I'm doing fine. Yourself?" She shifted, trying to resist the impulse to be intrusive. She was open and friendly by nature and was really curious about the ring. She averted her gaze, not wanting to be rude. She had heard a rumor that Dylan was seeing one of the University guys. Kiera thought his name was Jacob or Josh or Jason...no. No it wasn't Jason. It would never be Jason. She kept herself together. Her twin brother, whom she believed had been killed by her alcoholic father when she was 8, was named Jason. Jasob hadn't been killed, but had lost him memory and now was renamed Jonathan. Neither knew about the other and Jonathan was in fact the fiance of Dylan. It was a small world after all. "You seem a bit upset or something. Everything alright?" Her concern was genuine and wondered if Dylan would prefer simply being left alone. tagged. Dylan outfit. click.notes. She had it on and was gently moving it around her finger, smiling absently at the thought of him being with her. She was so in love with in it sometimes worried her. She often wondered if it had anything to do with who she was or if it was just knowing that he loved her just as much. Dylan smiled a little at Kiera's excuse for doubling over in pain and she nodded in agreement. Yeah, I get what you mean. I always take my siblings to the park and run around if it gets bad. I don't notice it then and I think that's what it is rather than exercise in general. but hey, i'm no doctor. She said as she stuffed her hands into the pockets of her jacket, her eyes focused on Kiera. She didn't hate her and she appreciated that Kiera didn't hate her too. She had enough people that hated her, she didn't need the ones that were nice enough to talk to everyone hating her too. With a sigh, Dylan leaned back against the tree and gazed up at the branches and the leaves.

Dylan hardly noticed what was being said as she watched the small furry creature disappear into the burrow. Then she looked away. Her eyes found Kiera again as she shrugged her shoulders. Yeah, i am great to be honest. and nah, i'm not upset. not at all. I don't think i could be upset right now. she said with a giggle as she removed her hands from her pockets and pressing them back against the tree, finding comfort with the texture of the jagged bark and the way it felt underneath her soft hands. Dylan brushed her hair away from her eyes. She smirked and smiled lightly as she touched her face with her hands absently. She carefully nodded as she smiled politely again. i hope you have fun hiking. she added with a smile before stretching her muscles. [/blockquote]

Kiera wondered if Dylan was trying to subtly dismiss her or something. Kiera found she wasn't sure if she would be relieved or dissapointed. A dull ache was growing in her stomach again, she had minutes before it would be released again. She had a brief flash of worry wondering if she had misjudged how long she had until she went through the last stages of her withdrawl. She shifted her feet, feeling slightly nervous now. The pains had been pretty bad, maybe she was farther along than she thought? She couldn't be. She tried to relax, but her shoulders remained tensed. The dull aching was growing to a throb. She smiled at Dylan, attempting to mask the effects of her addiction. She enjoyed Dylan's company and didn't want to be controlled by her addictions any longer. She crossed her arms leisurely. "Any reason for this joy?" She raised her eyebrows, grinning happily at Dylan. Her pain was a shadow behind her smile, flickering and impossible to identify. She felt the sudden urge to invite Dylan hiking, although she knew that could never happen. She was silent for a few moments. "So what are you doing out here anyways? Enjoying the scenery?" Her eyes were skeptical. The old burned down church wasn't exactly a beautiful place, not one people often if ever chose for sightseeing. Kiera would have said more, but a fiery stab of pain exploded in her stomach. She doubled over, letting out a small strangled cry as her knees hit the ground. Her arms clutched around her stomach area, her eyes were shut tightly and she rocked ever so slightly. It was coursing through her, not ebbing away like before. Kiera knew she had been foolish. She was further into her withdrawl than she had allowed herself to descend in months. She was dangerously far. She was beginning to shake and she stood slowly to her feet. She was unsteady. Her eyes flickered open, flooded with a mixture of agony and apology. She gasped slightly. "I'm sorry, I have to go." Her words were halting. She turned from Dylan, sprinting towards the trees desperately. She no longer was able to care whether Dylan caught her shifting. She just needed it. tagged.
