xx. Hail lifted her arms above her head and stretched. All it took her was time tow arm up to someone before she could be this awesomely wild. Her bright eyes danced as she walked back and forth under the street lights, winding back and forth like a playful little creature before turning her head to look at him. you want to? you don't gotta waste gas. I have two legs and they work perfectly fine. she lifted one foot, twisted it at the ankle and then raised the other, doing the same and then doing one quick cartwheel to prove it. i don't mind walking. just depends on if you wanna spend more time around me then you would have to all ready. unless big, tough, human boy can't handle the cold. then i guess i will accept a ride. the more time i get to spend in your presence, the better.
xx. Her eyes twinkled as she watched him, humming a sweet little tune as she waited and drummed her fingertips against her cheek. She couldn't help but giggle and look upward toward the sky before planting her calm gaze on him. but hey, i guess it's up to you. you pick.[/blockquote]

He laughed--it was getting easier and easier to relax around her. Well, when you put it like that driving sounds stupid. I loved the demonstration by the way. Devon grinned down at the girl, marveling once more at her beautiful eyes on him, before holding out his arm to her, gentleman style. Well, my lady, shall we? he asked lightly though really he wasn't sure if she'd accept the arm. It wouldn't offend him, not really, after all they barely knew each other, but it would put a bit of a dent on his ego.
other - ffft this post SUCKED and I'm SO sorry, I just thought I'd post for you despite my horrible muse for Devon. It shall be better tomorrow. Hopefully.

xx. Hail walked carefully around him in a lazy circle, her bright eyes watching him as she turned her head to look down the street. With a dazzling smile she turned back to face him and took his arm carefully, almost thinking he would have pulled away by the time she got accustomed to being around him. thanks. three years of cheering i guess wasn't too terrible... but i still hated it. she added quickly, her attention turning to a sparkle on the windows of the stores as a car drove by. She watched it and became almost completely mesmeried. it had something to do with the otter inside of her, she was sure of it. Now of course not EVERY otter was like that, but she had a bubbly and curious personality about everything. She also had a way with being amazed by the fish when they swam and danced in the moonlight.

She took his arm, something that surprised him and to even more surprise to him, pleased him. He liked that she trusted him, at least enough to not walk five feet away, anyways. How very interesting, he answered lightly, indeed finding it a bit interesting but not terribly so. But he wouldn't mind listening, if that's what she wanted to talk about as they walked.
It quickly became apparent that she was distracted, watching a reflection of a car on the windows. Devon grinned to himself and glanced at the girl slantwise. Now, to butcher the quote of my favorite otter, what is so interesting about that damned reflection? He'd almost said fuck, like she had before, but had decided against it at the last moment. Not because he believed she'd never heard it before, which she obviously had, if she was using it, or because he believed her too innocent but because he'd been raised by people who nearly fainted at the mere idea of cursing around a girl. That stopped the more severe curses when he was talking with one.

her eyes twinkled when he rephrased her quote, something she found a little more than amusing. Her bright hazel eyes gazed past him at the reflections for a few more seconds and then shrugged her shoulders. i dunno. i have always had a fascination with lights. i am not sure why but all i know is that i like them. Her eyes danced as she continued to look up at him with her arm still hooked through his. Hail giggled a little and stretched her limbs. so what brought you out here tonight? she asked with a cheeky grin, her bright eyes still watching him before they turned back to her favorite pass time. the lights in the reflection of the windows.

Devon looked down on the hyper little woman, wondering how much to tell her. He wouldn't drown her and besides, he was like the other guys in the world that hated talking about things like bad dates. My friends set me up on a blind date. It was horrible. Devon smiled to himself and then at Hail. But I must admit that this night has taken a drastic turn for the better since I met you. Not only was he with a beautiful, lively girl, who was probably a bit too lively sometimes, but he'd learned about Shifters, something he'd only heard about in stories and then forgetting. Yes, walking beside him was a wonderful lady who also happened to turn into a beautiful otter. Oh yes, the night had indeed gotten better.

xx. Hail stood at his side with a simple smile on her face. Dating had been one thing she had skipped out on all together. She never tried it, had never intend to. Her parents were constantly having people come to find her, whether it was her brother or her cousin. Her best friend or her uncle, it didn't matter. There was always someone after her, trying to stop who she really was. She moved around a lot, almost never in the same city for longer than a few months. But New York was turning out to be different. She was here because it seemed interesting to her. And now... she felt she had a reason to stay. Even if this was the last time she ever spoke to Devon, it seemed like sticking around was just a little more than worth it. With a smile she stood at his side still, her eyes still focused on the windows that were across the street.
xx. ya know how you fix that problem? she asked simply before answering before he could respond don't date. i've never had the problem cuz i don't date. never even considered it. she said earnestly. Even though now was a total different story. she thought of it when she was around him and it almost made her want to, but that wouldn't happen. the last thing she needed was the possibility... well no, not the possibility, more of the likeliness that she would suddenly pack up and leave and never come back.

Devon looked at Hail slantwise and grinned. Dating can be a lot of fun, you know. As long as you go on one with the right person. With others it can be just stupid and boring. Devon laughed to himself softly. Casually, he looked around before adding, Plus, they can have interesting ends, if you know what I mean. She was still looking at the reflections, which amused Devon. He could believe that she shifted into an otter because weren't otters playful little creatures? That's what he'd always decided when he saw them in a zoo when he was younger. He'd always felt bad for the poor things, being trapped in an exhibit like that. He hadn't liked zoos then, though they were interesting, and liked them less now.

Yeah, something normal grabbing HAIL'S attention. She was just as amazed as we are. She giggled and shrugged her shoulders as she walked by him casually, heading down the street. Yeah, I guess, But I've never had one. All the dates I have ever been on involve me being ditched or them never showing up in the first place. So, I honestly can't say I agree or disagree with that. She shrugged her shoulders again before looking up at the sky, unable to see the stars. She remembered that that was her least favorite thing about New york, the fact that you couldn't see the stars. I miss the stars sometimes. I used to live far enough away from New York where I could see the real stars. Now every time I think I see one I have to double check that it isn't an airplane. She said sadly, her eyes lowering from the sky. She really did miss the stars, something she had almost never considered going without, and now that she did it almost every day of her life it almost depressed her.

When she spoke, Devon looked up. Like she'd said, you couldn't see the stars. The city lights were too much and anyways, tall buildings did quite a job to hide much of the sky. I've lived in New York my entire life but I've been outside of it plenty of times. I remember that the stars are beautiful. Devon knew that in the forest you could sometimes get glimpses of them, if you were in the right places where trees didn't cover everything, but even then it wasn't much. Where have you lived in the past? he prompted the otter-girl.
