OPAL THOREN "I'm hoping, I'm praying I won't get lost between two worlds For all I've seen, The truth lies in between Give me the strength to face the wrong that I have done Now that I know The darkest side of me...
Opal was out on her own like usual. It was a beautiful Saturday morning and she had left her apartment to go shopping. Originally she was going to go to Starbucks but today she needed to move. The wolf inside of her was screaming to be let out. It clawed at her from the inside. Opal knew she needed to shift but she could not right now. There were too many people in New York, too many opportunities to get caught. Silently Opal cursed her wealthy parents for making her attend the univserity in New York, so much could go wrong wiht so many people bustling about.
There were many shops within the mall but Opal was not interested in the expensive shops even though she had more than enough money. Her strides were smooth and even as she walked (as calmly as possible) but she could not get her mind off of her wolf form. It was knawing at her. She felt her canines sharpen and lengthen as he wolf from slowly attempted to surface. It took all her strength to force it down once more. She could not shift, at least not right now. Shopping had always been able to calm her nerves, she liked to shop, it kept her moving.
She moved silently among the small crowds of people, blending in easily enough. No one ever paid attention to her and Opal was fine with that. She hid her face behind white hair and was deaf to the world since she wore a pair of huge, pink headphones. Her style may have been different but it suited her and she liked it. High end fashion had always been a hobby of hers but she would gladly give that all away just to stay in her wolf form--if only that were possible. She did not even have a pack yet!
The music blared within her headphones and she bobbed her head along with the beat, drowning out her wolfish senses. She was unaware of the girl approaching her from behind...
...How can blood be your salvation And justify the pain That we have caused throughout the times Will I learn what's truly sacred Will I redeem my soul Will truth set me free"

Kiera Fernidge "You know you did it I'm gone To find someone to live for In this world There's no light at the end of the tunnel tonight Just a bridge that I gotta burn..."
Kiera was distracted, yet something more than that. No matter what she did, Kiera just couldn't concentrate. She was supposed to be shopping, something she was usually decent at it. She wasn't amazing, but she could find good clothes in a normal amount of time. She wasn't particularily fasion crazy either. She had a skirt or two, an assortment of colored tank tops, some sweaters, and a mound of jeans. That was all she really needed. If I had been less careless, I wouldn't need anything right now. Her lips twitched downwards in a slight frown. She had been out last week in her shifter form. Unlike many animal shifters, she preferred to remain fully clothed when she shifted. It was a hard skill to master, nearly impossible actually. She had been determined though, she was a modest girl.
Kiera's eyes grew stormy as she thought about her last time shifting. She had to actively keep her lips from curling over her teeth in a snarl. As a wolf, that was perfectly acceptable, but as a human - well she didn't like the prospect of an asylum. She shook her head furiously. One of her packmates had challenged her. She hated dominance fights, yet they were part of wolf nature, of pack nature, and a reluctant part of her own life. She was an alpha, and it was a position she must defend. Her challanger was young, uppity and ultimately foolish. It had been a quick fight, but one that had ruffled her fur and left her quite disheveled. Although her oponants blunt claws had done minimal damage to Kiera's physical body, her clothing had not been in good shape when Kiera shifted back to human form.
She had had to smuggle it into the apartment she shared with three other girls, disposed of it quickly. And now here she was, replacing perfectly good clothing. She thought again of the proud young wolf that had challanged her. If he was human, I would make him pay for the clothes. But alas, he wasn't human so her clothes were her own problem. Even so, he wouldn't be getting the best pickings of the kills made by the pack for a while. She was a unanimous leader, a respected and favored one. The elder members of the pack had not been happy to see her challanged. But what was done, was done.
Kiera threaded her way through the throngs of people. Her mind was far away and her gaze centered on the pavement below her feet. She stared without really seeing anything. This was most likely why she didn't notice Opal in front of her. Kiera gave a small startled wordless cry as she abruptly ran into Opal. She stumbled backwards, reaching out her arms to simultaneously steady herself against the other girl, and make sure she was okay. Kiera's mind snapped back to the present and she bit her lip. She had been careless, again. "Hey, sorry there. I didn't mean to run into you."
"...You were wrong If you think you can walk right through my door That is just so you Coming back when I've finally moved on I'm already gone."

OPAL THOREN "I'm hoping, I'm praying I won't get lost between two worlds For all I've seen, The truth lies in between Give me the strength to face the wrong that I have done Now that I know The darkest side of me...
Opal did not here Kiera coming, she didn't really hear anything aside from her blaring music. Her head continuously bobbed with the beat as she weaved between people. She stayed out of the peoples way and managed to stay hidden. Opal had always been good at blending in but apparently she was not good at dodging distracted girls. When Kiera smacked into her Opal was completely taken aback. A low growl erupted from her throat before she could stop herself. Make no mistake, it was feral and very wolfish. "Hey, sorry there. I didn't mean to run into you." She blinked at pushed mute on her ipod. She recognized the girl as Kiera, a classmate of hers in one of her classes, not that Kiera would know that.
Opal glanced at her uneasily and offered her a small smile. "It's alright," she said modestly. Her silver eyes met Kiera's for a moment before they flickered back to the ground. "I'm sorry for getting in your way. Didn't here you coming," Opal tapped on her huge, obnoxious headphones and smiled hesitantly. She offered her one last smile before she turned back around and continued to walk. There had been something odd about Kiera. It was not that she looked odd, she looked like any normal teenage girl. She was pretty and wore a pair of nice jeans and a fashionable shirt. To everyone else shopping she would look normal but to Opal she was odd. She was different.
Opal replayed the scene in her mind. She had been bouncing along to the music when Kiera had steam rolled her. The physical contact had made the hairs along the back of her neck rise but wasn't that just a normal wolfish reaction? Opal's eyebrows knitted together as she replayed the scene over and over. There was something off about her, something about...Her scent! Opal's eyes widened in surprise. That was what set her apart from the crowd. She had a distinct scent and Opal should have recognized it earlier. Kiera was a shifter but not just any type of shifter, she was a wolf!
She licked her lips nervously and picked up the pace. Now Opal was paranoid, why had Kiera bumped into her? Was it really an accident or was it on purpose? Did she know that Opal was a wolf shifter too? What did she want from her? Was she still following her? Opal bit down on her lip and pushed the desire to shift. After she shopped she would shift and she would run far away from the university. She needed to shift, she needed to clear her head, and get away from everyone. Opal needed time to calm down and just think. She peeked over her shoulder to see if Kiera was following her or not...
...How can blood be your salvation And justify the pain That we have caused throughout the times Will I learn what's truly sacred Will I redeem my soul Will truth set me free"

"I'm sorry for getting in your way. Didn't here you coming," Kiera stood in a slight bewilderment as the girl, who she recognized but couldn't quite place, simply turned and walked away. What, no introduction? No friendly conversation? Frankly, she was slightly confused and more than a little irritated. Sure, she had bumped into the girl, but not on purpose. Now this chick was all but running away. What was she even running from? Kiera wasn't that frightening of a person, at least not in human form. She watched the retreating form of the girl. She seemed nervous, walked with a distracted step. Kiera was good at reading body language, fabulous actually. She was a shifter, and her shifter form was a wolf. They wrote the book on body language. As the girl looked over her shoulder, perhaps a note of fear in her gaze, Kiera decided to follow. She began to weave her way through the crowd. She was actually quite stylishly dressed for today. She had found some jeans and a decent top that matched. She knew she looked good, and it gave her an extra burst of confidence. She began replaying the short conversation in her mind. What had set off this chick? Something about the girl seemed different from a normal human. Kiera couldn't quite put her finger on it. Her eyes narrowed in concentration. Whatever it was, it had an air of familiarity. Something Kiera recognized and identified with. Whatever it was, it was starting to drive her crazy. Hey! Wait up! She called out to the girl, she knew the other girl could hear her. She was weaving faster now, making her way towards Opal. What are you like fleeing or something? She huffed as she reached Opal and tapped her lightly on the shoulder. She lifted an eyebrow and as she did, the familiarity hit again. This time, however, Kiera identified it. This girl, her communication, why Kiera could read her so well even the way she moved, this girl was a wolf. She was a shifter. She was one of Kiera's kind. Her gaze filled with interest. If this girl, Opal, hadn't realized the same thing of Kiera, then she would soon. Why don't we stop and chat? Something about you makes me think it would be interesting. She was grinning, her eyes light and open. tagged. Opal outfit. click.notes. I found templates! credits. carolyn's sweet blasphemy *

OPAL THOREN Hey! Wait up! Opal flinched as Kiera's voice grated on her nerves. She knows... she definitely knows... She thought warily as Kiera zipped toward her once more. Opal suppressed a sigh as Kiera reached out and tapped her on the shoulder. What are you like fleeing or something? She slid her tongue across her teeth and resisted the urge to shift. Opal felt the wolf in her lurking, pacing back and forth. The hairs on her arms stood on end as she studied the girl quietly. It was obvious that Kiera was beautiful and stylish. She walked with a swagger Opal could only dream of. She had never been the alpha type in neither human or wolf form--and it sucked! She was always the butt of jokes, always the one who was left out of everything...
Why don't we stop and chat? Something about you makes me think it would be interesting. Opal shrugged and inched away from Kiera, clearly she was uneasy with this smiling, confident girl beside her. "Trust me, I am far from interesting," Opal took a couple of paces back. The need to flee was urgent but her feet were rooted to the ground. "However I guess you could... erm..." She blinked and glanced down at her sneakers. "You could walk along with me as I shop. I can't sit down and talk right now." Opal didn't glance up but instead she continued to move backward. She knew she must have looked like a complete idiot but Opal didn't care. She was shaken up, nervous, and afraid of this girl who had come out from seemingly no where. What did she want from her?
So many questions were buzzing throughout her head but she kept her mouth shut. Opal did not want to give away too much information. Instead she resided to listening and watching as Kiera slowly followed her. Silently she wondered if had to do with the fact that they were both shifters. Was this some sort of trick? Was she trying to bring her to her pack? Would that even be a bad idea? Opal frowned and shook her head, erasing the throbbing thoughts. She had to calm down otherwise Kiera would probably... well she did not know what the girl was capable but she knew it probably wouldn't end well--at least for her.

Kiera flipped her hair and grinned. She shrugged and quickened her pace so she was walking by Opal's side instead of following behind like some sort of puppy. She didn't say anything for a while, letting Opal adjust to her presence. Opal was obviously very uncomfortable, and skittish. That was wolf behavior. Kiera had never been more sure of something than she was sure Opal was a wolf shifter. Just like me. Kiera grinned. Either Opal would tell her voluntarily, or Kiera would reveal she knew. She wanted to see how Opal would react. She found the other girl..entertaining in a way. Kiera's hands were relaxed, tucked into her back pockets. Her arms were bent, accenting her willowy build yet well sized chest. Her words were light and innocent. "Have you ever seen a wolf, Opal?" Kiera never was the type to beat around the bush. To any human, it would seem a normal conversation to have between friends. That was what Kiera wanted them to think. She knew the question would mean more to Opal though, and Kiera was vigilent for a reaction. Her own stance was casually interested, though her eyes were knowing and expectant. What would Opal say? Yeah I've seen them, I just look in the mirror. Maybe she would take the shy route. Once or twice, I have a special fondness for them. Perhaps she would even go through the denial route? I hate the disgusting animals and have never had the unfortunate luck to run into one. Kiera looked at Opal from the corners of her eyes. Which would Opal be? As they walked, Kiera's eyes perused the stores. She was window shopping. She wanted something stylish, yet inexpensive. Definately some new dark wash jeans, perhaps a sweater. Sweaters were good on her. She would have loved some ballet flats too, maybe some jewelry to go along? Kiera enjoyed envisioning the clothes she would buy and how she would mix and match them. She wasn't a fashion freak, but she did like clothes. She liked the confidence they gave her, and the colors. She loved bright things. Not flashy, bright. There was a difference. tagged.
